DAY 1: WINDHOEK – FISH RIVER CANYON

Your journey starts with a transfer from your accommodation establishment in Windhoek to the Eros airport. The flight, departing early from Windhoek, takes you across the magnificent Auas Mountain range towards the far south of Namibia.  Enjoy the Hardap Dam, the Kalahari Desert, the extinct Brukkaros volcano and the vast intriguing plains of the south from a bird’s-eye view. Our destination is the magnificent boulder-studded plains and hills to the east of the great Fish River Canyon, second largest of its kind in the world.

Accommodation: Canon Lodge, including, dinner, bed, breakfast and an excursion to the Fish River Canyon.  

DAY 2: FISH RIVER CANYON - SOSSUSVLEI              

A scenic flight takes you over the steep and winding gorges of the Fish River Canyon, over the fascinating Huns- and Zaris Mountains and over the landscapes of the pro-Namib to Sesriem, the gateway to the southern Namib Desert and its magnificent dune belts. 

Accommodation: Sossusvlei Lodge, including dinner, bed, breakfast and an excursion into the Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei and to the Sesriem Canyon.

DAY 3: SOSSUSVLEI - SWAKOPMUND

Early Morning visit to Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world.  Observe the fauna and flora that inhabits this region.  Time will be taken to explore the impressive sandstone conglomerate gorges of the Sesriem Canyon, formed by the Tsauchab River.  Then back to the airfield for a flight along the coast to Swakopmund with breathtaking views of sand meeting sea and cormorants making their homes on shipwrecks. Cape fur seals and graceful flamingos abound along the bird sanctuary at Sandwich Bay. (Note: Not to disturb the environment, we strictly keep our flight level at a 1 000 feet over the Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary.) The afternoon is spent in Swakopmund.

Accommodation: Hansa Hotel, including breakfast and a marine cruise on a catamaran.

DAY 4: SWAKOPMUND - TWYFELFONTEIN

A short transfer takes you to Walvis Bay where you embark on a Catamaran.  This provides you with a glimpse of Namibia’s only deep-sea harbour, encounters with aquatic birds and Cape fur seals, and the opportunity of sighting bottlenose and heavy-side dolphins, the latter a species  endemic to the coast of south-western Africa.  Namibian oysters,  counted amongst the best in the world, canapés and chilled sparkling  wine from South Africa as well as soft drinks are served on board during this leisurely cruise.

 An afternoon flight takes you north along the Skeleton Coast, Namibias Highest mountain the Brandberg, the Messum Crater and the riverbeds of Namibia’s ephemeral watercourses, to Twyfelfontein.

The slopes of Twyfelfontein are strewn with boulders; all dotted with thousands of paintings and ancient engravings, a virtual open-air museum. 

Accommodation: Twyfelfontein Lodge, including dinner, breakfast and an excursion to the ancient rock engravings.

DAY 5: TWYFELFONTEIN – EPUPA FALLS        

 

Now our flight takes us over the Kaokoveld to the perennial Kunene River. We land at Epupa Camp. The rest of the morning is spent with the Nomadic Himba tribe. We are invited to see how they live and exist in this harsh environment. The remaining day is spent at leisure beside the Kunene. A sundowner is enjoyed on a surrounding hill overlooking the Epupa falls. Spend the night in luxury safari tents with en-suite facilities.

Accommodation: Epupa Camp, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and various activities.

DAY 6: EPUPA FALLS – ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

 

After a leisurely breakfast, we depart and fly along the Kunene and over Ovamboland to a lodge in the south-eastern part of the Etosha. The rest of the day is spent in the park visiting various waterholes.

Accommodation: Mokuti Lodge, including breakfast, dinner and 1 game drive.

DAY 7: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

We spend the day in the Etosha National park. Game drives in our own Etosha wagon. We spend time at various waterholes and return to the lodge at sunset.

The game and birds found here are typical of the savannah plains of Southern Africa, but include several species endemic to the western side of the continent, adjacent to the Namib desert.  Among the rarer species, black rhino, white rhino (recently reintroduced) are frequently seen.  Black-faced Impala are restricted to Namibia and southern Angola and the Damara dik-dik; the Parks smallest antelope is endemic.  Hundreds of bird species have been recorded which migrant’s complement during the summer period.  Participate in an early morning and afternoon guided game drive into the National Park.

DAY 8: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK - WINDHOEK         

After a leisurely breakfast you board the aircraft for the final flight back to Windhoek.  A transfer will bring you to your accommodation establishment in Windhoek.
